An Ancient Practice for Modern Times
Yoga and Meditation
Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India and aim to control and still the mind, recognising a detached witness-consciousness untouched by the mind and mundane suffering, with traditional and modern yoga practised worldwide.
The term "yoga" in the Western world often means a modern form of Hatha yoga and a posture-based physical fitness, stress-relief and relaxation technique consisting primarily of the asanas. This differs from traditional yoga, which focuses on meditation and release from worldly attachments and cultivating balanced emotional energy.
Over the decades, Alpa has frequently returned to India to study Hatha yoga under different gurus. Her sessions are tailor-made to your specific needs, age or condition, including prenatal or post-natal yoga.

Meditation
Finding Internal Stillness
Meditation is an ancient practice that has increasingly been highlighted in mainstream culture and for good reason. It is a practice between you and your mind, an exploration of your internal dialogue and the mental patterns you consciously and unconsciously use to meet your everyday obstacles. At the Clinic, we run guided meditations that focus on mental clarity, balancing internal thoughts, finding internal stillness and practising positive habits proven to relax and de-stress.
Meditation for All
The mind is the most powerful tool you have.
But what happens when your mind is too busy to listen to your own best interests? When it's distracted by stress or negative self-talk?
We offer guided meditation training at the clinic or in the comfort of your own home. Our sessions are tailored to your concerns, whether you want to focus on building inner peace, improving productivity at work or reducing stress and increasing focus. And best of all? Our sessions are interactive: they're not just about sitting still and closing your eyes! You'll be using mental tools that you can take out into the world with you, every day.

Ayurveda
Healing Through Health
Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” It stems from the ancient Vedic culture, and principles of many of the natural healing systems now familiar in the West have their roots in Ayurveda, including Homeopathy and in the ancestor of yoga.
Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs.
Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind and consciousness according to one’s constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance. Just as everyone has a unique fingerprint, each person has a particular pattern of energy—an individual combination of physical, mental and emotional characteristics—which comprises their constitution.
Ayurvedic Consultation
In this consultation, Alpa will determine your body type or ‘Dosha’ and design an exercise, lifestyle and well-being plan best suited to your body type (Vatta, Kapha or Pitta) according to Ayurvedic practices. This is a great starting point for anyone wanting to rethink how they approach their health and inner wellbeing.
